How can we help?
60 answers about invoicing, getting paid, contracts, VAT, nomad visas and fees. If none of them fit, one human address handles everything: support@remotetalent.io.
Nothing matched that. Try a different word, or email support@remotetalent.io and a person will answer.
Getting started
Accounts, verification, and finding your way around.
A way for independent professionals to bill clients properly across borders — invoices, signed contracts, payouts to the rail of your choice, and the earnings records you need when someone official asks you to prove your income.
No. Remote Talent contracts with you as an independent contractor and issues the invoice on that basis, which is the point of the platform for people who do not want to register a company in order to bill a client abroad. You are still responsible for your own tax position where you live.
A verified identity, a client record, and a payout method. The app will not let you send an invoice without a withdrawal method attached, because that is where the money goes when the client pays.
Because money moves through the platform, identity verification and sanctions screening are a legal requirement rather than a product choice. You will be asked for a government ID and a selfie check. It is usually done in minutes.
A small number of countries are excluded for sanctions and anti-money-laundering reasons. If your country is on that list you will not be able to complete verification. The list is maintained against the applicable sanctions regimes, not chosen by us.
Yes. The app opens in a demo mode loaded with sample clients, contracts and invoices so you can see how everything behaves. Nothing in demo mode is real and nothing is sent.
iOS first — that is where the craft has gone so far. Android and web are next, and if you join now you get them when they ship.
Invoicing
Creating, sending, editing and chasing invoices.
Pick a client, or pick a signed contract to inherit its rate, currency and billing frequency. Dates and the invoice number are filled in for you. Add your line items, choose where the money should be paid out, and slide to send.
Sequentially, in the order they are issued, in a single continuous series — which is what most tax authorities expect. Drafts do not consume a number; a number is assigned when the invoice is issued.
An issue date and a due date. The issue date defaults to today and the due date follows your payment terms — 30 days unless you change it. Once a client pays, the payment date is recorded separately, so the document shows all three.
A draft can be changed freely. Once an invoice has been issued it is a document your client is relying on, so it cannot be quietly edited — you cancel it and issue a replacement, and both remain on the record.
53 currencies, covering 79 countries. The invoice keeps the currency you billed in from end to end — the PDF, the receipt and the client's copy all agree. Your reports convert to a single currency for comparison and say that they have.
Yes. A line item can be a quantity at a rate, or a flat amount for a milestone or a fixed-price piece of work. A single invoice can mix them.
A contract carries a billing frequency — weekly, monthly, on milestone, or on project completion — and the invoice inherits it, so raising the next one is a couple of taps rather than a fresh start. Fully unattended recurring billing is not available yet.
A PDF invoice with your details, their details, the line items, the totals, the payment instructions and the legal footer, plus a way to pay it. They do not need an account to pay.
Overdue invoices are surfaced on the home screen with the client's name and how many days late they are, rather than sitting in a list you have to remember to open. Chasing is still a conversation you have with your client.
You can add it as a line item on a follow-up invoice. Whether you are entitled to charge it depends on your contract and your local law — the platform does not calculate or enforce it.
Getting paid
How the money reaches you, and by which rail.
By bank transfer, or by card if you enable card payment on the invoice. Card adds a 4% processing fee, which is charged on the client's side.
Created — written but not sent. Issued — with your client. Payment received — their money has reached us and the flat fee has been deducted. Payment sent — it has gone out to your withdrawal method. Each stage is timestamped.
A bank account in 200+ countries, via SEPA, ACH, domestic wire, local transfer or international SWIFT. A Wise or Revolut balance, addressed by WiseTag or RevTag rather than an IBAN. Or a USDC or USDT wallet on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism or Base.
Yes — the withdrawal method is attached per invoice, not per account. A euro invoice can settle to a SEPA account while a dollar invoice goes to a stablecoin wallet.
It depends on the rail, and it starts only once your client's payment has cleared. SEPA and domestic transfers are usually 1–2 business days; international SWIFT can take longer; stablecoin transfers are typically minutes once sent. Cut-off times and weekends apply.
Because in some countries the banking rail is the slow, expensive or unreliable part. USDC and USDT let you hold value in dollars and move it quickly without needing a US bank account.
They are lost, and nobody can recover them — that is how public blockchains work. This is why the app makes you choose the network explicitly when you add the wallet, shows the network on the confirmation, and warns you before saving. Check the address and the network every time.
It comes out of the transfer, so a stablecoin payout arrives slightly smaller than the settled amount. The network you pick affects how much — the cheaper chains cost a fraction of Ethereum.
Usually a name mismatch: the account holder name has to match your verified identity. Correct the details on the withdrawal method and contact support so the payout can be re-sent.
No. Payouts go to an account in your own name. This is an anti-money-laundering requirement, not a preference.
Clients & contracts
Client records, agreements, signatures and endings.
The company's legal name, country, billing address and the contact who will receive the invoice. A tax ID or VAT number if they have one — it belongs on the invoice.
Yes, before it goes onto a document. An invalid VAT number is one of the most common reasons an invoice is bounced back by a client's accounts team.
Because it settles the rate, the scope and the notice period before there is anything to argue about — and every invoice raised against it inherits those terms instead of relying on your memory. It is also the document a consulate asks for when you apply for a nomad visa.
Electronically, by both parties. You send it, your client signs, and it is counter-signed — the app shows whose desk it is on at each point. Your client does not need an account to sign.
Hourly, daily, monthly, or a fixed price for the whole engagement. You can also set a weekly hour cap and either a fixed end date or an ongoing term.
Termination is its own flow, with its own counter-signature and its own document, rather than an email you have to compose at an awkward moment. The record of the contract stays after it ends.
Tax & VAT
VAT numbers, reverse charge, and what we do not do.
No, and nothing here is tax advice. Remote Talent issues compliant invoices and keeps your records in order; declaring and paying tax where you are resident is yours to do, ideally with an accountant who knows your situation.
Once, in your profile. From then on it appears on every invoice you issue.
For cross-border B2B services within the EU, VAT is accounted for by the client rather than charged by you. The invoice must say so explicitly. Remote Talent applies the wording automatically when the transaction qualifies.
Services supplied to a business outside the EU are generally outside the scope of EU VAT, and the invoice reflects that. Your own local rules still apply to you.
You cancel the invoice and issue a corrected one; both stay on the record, which is what an auditor wants to see. A dedicated credit-note document is not available yet.
Nomad visas
How eligibility is worked out, and what it is not.
It compares your actual invoicing history against each programme's published rules: your average monthly income over the last three months, whether each individual month cleared the threshold, and whether you hold active contracts with clients outside that country.
24 programmes across 9 regions — 18 dedicated nomad visas, 5 visa-free or visitor routes, and one freelance visa. Each has its income threshold, length of stay, processing time, fee, official portal, document checklist and a difficulty rating.
No. It is researched guidance to help you work out where you stand and what to prepare. Programmes change their thresholds and consulates apply their own discretion — always confirm the current requirements with the official authority before you apply or book anything.
No. It means your income record meets the published financial criteria, which is usually the hardest part to evidence — but a consulate weighs your whole application, including documents and history the app knows nothing about.
Most nomad visa programmes require the income to come from outside the destination country; that is the point of the visa. Invoices to clients in that country are excluded from the calculation for that programme.
That is what they are for. The earnings certificate and the financial statement are built for exactly this, alongside your signed contracts and individual invoice PDFs.
Reports & documents
Analytics, certificates, statements and exports.
An earnings certificate is a formal statement of what you earned over a period, for a landlord, a bank or a consulate. A financial statement is the fuller breakdown — invoice by invoice, client by client, with dates, statuses and settled amounts — for you or your accountant.
The certificate as PDF. The statement as PDF or CSV, filtered by period and client, in whichever currency you want the totals expressed in.
Money actually received as a share of money invoiced over the period you are looking at. It is deliberately kept separate from the invoiced total, so a strong month that has not been paid yet is never mistaken for money you have.
Totals are converted into the display currency you choose, at the rates in effect when the figures were compiled. The app says so on the screen, because a converted figure is an estimate rather than a bank balance.
Fees & billing
What the flat fee covers and when it is taken.
A flat 35 per paid invoice, in the invoice's own currency — €35, $35 or £35. No subscription, no per-seat charge, and no percentage of the invoice.
When your client pays. It is deducted from the settlement rather than billed to you, so it never comes out of your pocket.
Clients, contracts, drafts, unpaid invoices, the visa eligibility checks and the reports. You are charged only on invoices that are actually paid.
Because a percentage is a tax on raising your rates. On a $2,000 invoice a 5% commission is $100 and a 5.99% one is $119.80; the flat fee is $35 whether the invoice is for 500 or 50,000.
Two, and both are visible before you commit. If your client chooses to pay by card, a 4% processing fee applies on their side. If you take a stablecoin payout, the blockchain network fee comes out of the transfer.
Yes — a fee invoice is issued for each one, so it is a deductible business expense you can hand to your accountant.
Then there is no fee. You are charged on settlement, so an unpaid invoice costs you nothing. Recovering the money from a client who will not pay is outside what the platform can do.
Account & security
Your data, your records, and getting help.
Encrypted in transit and at rest. Payments are handled by regulated banking partners, so we never see card numbers. Account access, identity verification and legal acceptances are all logged.
Yes, at any time — not only when you are leaving. Invoices export as PDF with matching payment receipts, and your earnings history exports as CSV.
You can ask us to close it. Some records — invoices, payment records, verification results — have to be retained for a period under financial and tax law, and those are kept for that period and no longer. The Privacy Policy sets out how long.
The User Agreement, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are published on this site and inside the app from the same source, so the text you read here and the text you accept in the app are identical. Superseded versions are retained because acceptance records refer to them.
